On Jan. 15, we had a wonderful afternoon community celebration to honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and to inspire us to bring the dream to life. The theme was ‘Beyond Dreaming: Why We Can’t Wait’ and we were blessed by the gifts and wisdom of Auburn’s Hip Hop Congress, Annie Lindsay, Patricia and Mark Leftridge, Placer County Supervisors Jennifer Montgomery and Jim Holmes, several readers from SFUU and the wider community, Sacramento’s Jovi Radtke, some of the Cramer family, and Loping Wolf. The planning team (Maureen Bauman, Lisa Boch, Millee Livingston, Robert Ludgate, Larry Smith, Rev. Wendy Bartel, and Rev. Lynn Gardner) worked collaboratively with the participants and several volunteers ….and a special thank you to Angie Tahti and PlacerArts who welcomed us as we processed with candles, drumming, chanting, and silence. The next day was a day of service to help clean up the community. Thank you to so many folks who participated and attended and volunteered! It was wonderful
