The mission of the Sierra Foothills Unitarian Universalists congregation is to encourage individual spiritual and intellectual journeys as we create an inclusive religious community. We are committed to the responsible and compassionate stewardship of all life through our respect for diversity and interdependency. We serve by reaching out with love and caring to our local and global communities.
The Sierra Foothill Unitarian Universalists congregation - or SFUU for short - is an active, growing congregation located in Auburn, California. We are proud of our rich Religion Education program and our very active Social Action group. SFUU is a community of people who have goals and dreams as varied as 'meeting like minded people' to 'making a difference in this world'.
We are located in Auburn - 190 Finley Street - right across from Placer High School.
Unitarian Universalism
With its roots in the Judeo-Christian traditions, Unitarian Universalism keeps an open mind to the religious questions people struggle with in all times and places. We believe that personal experience, conscience and reason guide us, and that ultimately religious authority lies within ourselves. We do not ask anyone to subscribe to a creed.
From the affirmation of the unity of God (Unitarian) to the universal salvation of all souls (Universalist), UU’s affirm and promote:
The inherent worth and dignity of every person
Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations
Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth
A free and responsible search for truth and meaning
The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and society at large
The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all
Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part
