Committee on Ministry

WHAT IS MINISTRY? WHAT IS THE CoM?

Ministry is the act of serving or attending to the wants and needs of others. As such, ministry is practiced by all of us, not just by our ordained Minister. All acts that support the mission of the congregation and congregational life, whether it be social, emotional, spiritual, or physical, are forms of ministry. We minister to each other as we interact, volunteer, express ideas, share vision, teach our children, educate each other, offer support, and share needs. We are all in relation with one another, and the Committee on Ministry (CoM) is committed to supporting and monitoring the health of these relationships — the total ministry of our church. To be in relationship means that we give and we take, we speak and we listen, we provide and we accept, we reconcile differences; we do not turn away.

This shared ministry depends on being able to talk to each other about things that we care about. So, if you have joys or concerns about the ministry of SFUU, bring them to the CoM (Barb Munn, Colin Moodie, Ceci Dalton, Maureen Bauman or the Ministers). We meet to discuss issues related to both SFUU’s shared ministry and our ordained Minister. We are committed to the overall health of the ministry and supporting right relationships with our Minister and among our members.
