Incoming Interim Minister
The interim minister search team spent two weeks interviewing candidates for interim minister. It is an intensive process where the committee’s selection needs to match the candidates choice of congregation. The team is happy to announce that they have chosen Reverend Michael Walker, and he has chosen SFUU!
Rev. Mike has been a minister for several years and most recently served as the interim minister in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He is originally from Georgetown so he knows our area well and is happy to be moving back to the west coast with his husband and cats. He will be joining us in early August and has committed to a two-year interim ministry at SFUU.
Rev. Mike’s ministry is committed to serving both the spiritual and social justice needs of a congregation and community, and, specifically, ministering during times of transition. His background includes more than 20 years of volunteer and professional community service (often in leadership roles), two graduate degrees, with experience in parish and community ministries, as well as parish and hospital chaplaincy (CPE) internships. His first career, 15 years of nursing and medical care, has also given him a deep understanding of human suffering and the need for compassion. He is committed to creativity and artistic expression, and to celebrating the beauty of life together!
He looks forward to serving SFUU beginning in August.
