Announcing our Ministerial Candidate

We are thrilled to announce our candidate for our new settled minister: AJ van Tine! AJ impressed the search committee with his enthusiasm, his passion for ministry and pastoral care, and a deep knowledge of Unitarian Universalism.  A lifelong UU, AJ is finishing his ministerial internship at the Boulder Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Boulder, Colorado. He graduated from Harvard Divinity School in 2018.

AJ grew up in Virginia with connections to congregations in Oakton and Newport News. AJ has been a leader in youth, young adult, campus UU communities, and is excited to bring his passion for sustaining and facilitating liberal religious community to serve the mission and values of SFUU. His wife Ada, also a lifelong UU, is a writer and librarian. They love film and literature, day hikes, and of course, their sweet little dog, Mina. You can visit his website, http://uuministry.com/ajvantine/ for recordings of some of his previous sermons and other information.

Please mark your calendar for Candidating Week, Sunday, April 28 - Sunday, May 5 for opportunities to meet and hear AJ.

  • Sunday, April 28 - AJ will lead two services, 9am and 11am. The second service will be followed by a congregation Q&A session and lunch.
